Confirmed
In Short: Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the final season of 'The Empress,' a period drama that follows Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sisi, as she grapples with her royal duties and personal desires.
The trailer, which dropped on November 12, 2024, shows Sisi facing a pivotal moment in her life. As Deadline reports, she is confronted with the harsh reality that her dreams may never come true.
Katharina Eyssen, who served as showrunner for the first two seasons, returns to helm the third and final season, sharing creative duties with executive producer Robert Eyssen.
The series, which has amassed over 65 million streams since July 2023, has been a global hit. Season 1 stayed in the global Netflix Top 10 of non-English shows for five straight weeks in 2022, while Season 2 entered the Top 10 in 84 countries.
The final season of 'The Empress' will be the last chapter in Sisi's story, concluding her journey at Schönbrunn Palace.
Meanwhile, 'Heated Rivalry,' a sports drama series, is gearing up for its second season. The show, which stars Corrie Storrie and Hudson Williams, will delve deeper into the relationship between Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov.
Creator Jacob Tierney revealed that the second season will likely be a tight six episodes, with plenty of source material from Rachel Reid's book 'The Long Game' to adapt.
Milla Jovovich will join the cast of 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 as Ilya's therapist, Dr. Galina Molchalina, adding another layer to the complex narrative.
Fans of 'Heated Rivalry' have been eagerly anticipating the return of Shane and Ilya, with some hoping for a holiday release.
Tierney and the production team are committed to ensuring the quality of the show, even if it means a longer wait for the second season.
The anticipation for both 'The Empress' and 'Heated Rivalry' Season 2 underscores the growing popularity of streaming dramas that blend historical and contemporary narratives.
