Andres Vicente, CEO of Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India at Ericsson, said, “India is an important part of Ericsson’s global innovation, engineering, and manufacturing footprint. The production of more than 15,000 antennas and 25 million components shows how quickly this ecosystem is developing and the contribution it can make both in India and globally.”

Mikael Eriksson, Head of Ericsson Antenna System, added, “Producing more than 15,000 antennas in India is an important milestone and is a step in a much longer journey. We are building an end-to-end antenna ecosystem that combines local sourcing and manufacturing with Ericsson’s global engineering capabilities.”

The company’s antenna system is designed to improve network performance, enhance coverage and capacity, and reduce energy consumption.

Ericsson is working with the Indian government to encourage component suppliers to establish manufacturing bases in the country, Vicente told The Economic Times.

The India Mobile Congress 2026 is being held at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi from October 7 to October 10, 2026, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to formally inaugurate the event.

Through collaboration with manufacturing and technology partners, Ericsson is developing capabilities spanning component sourcing, engineering, production, and exports.

Ericsson’s push to manufacture more telecom equipment locally aligns with India’s broader drive to strengthen domestic telecom manufacturing and build the country into a global export hub for such gear.
