Confirmed
In Short: Jake Cronenworth hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, sending the ball 368 feet to right field, putting the San Diego Padres ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers with a 3-2 lead in Game 3 of the National League Division Series at Petco Park on Tuesday.

Jake Cronenworth hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, sending the ball 368 feet to right field, putting the San Diego Padres ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers with a 3-2 lead in Game 3 of the National League Division Series at Petco Park on Tuesday.
The Brewers had just evened the score with a run in the top of the fifth inning, but Cronenworth's home run prevented the game from getting out of hand as the Brewers were in position to add more runs with the bases loaded.
Since September 1, the Padres have gone 20-6, and Cronenworth's return has been a significant factor in their success.
The Padres' 26-man roster for the NLDS includes veteran lefty Robbie Ray, who will start Game 1, followed by Michael King in Game 2.
Joe Musgrove, who has not appeared in an MLB game since the 2024 postseason due to an elbow injury, was activated from the injured list and placed on the Wild Card roster.
Despite setbacks during his rehab, Musgrove's progress allowed the Padres to include him on the roster.
The Padres will not be carrying reliever Wandy Peralta, starter/reliever Randy Vasquez, starter/reliever Griffin Canning, and utilityman Sung-Mun Song on the roster.
Cronenworth's performance since coming off the injured list has been crucial, hitting.272/.336/.352, and Luis Rengifo's productive start (.851 OPS) has stabilized the lineup.
Manager Bob Stammen said, “We’ll find out how he feels afterwards and then decide what to do after that,” regarding Musgrove's next steps.
Fans in the Padres home television territory can watch the game for free on the Padres' official streaming platform.
What this adds
The Padres' No. 2 hitters still rank last with a.653 OPS, but Cronenworth and Rengifo have largely stabilized that spot in the order.

- Here is how the Brewers will line up to start the three-game series: 📺: https://t.co/eycfmE2vgm 📻: WTMJ #ThisIsMyCrew x @NicoletLaw pic.twitter.com/OU90AtiT4i A day after allowing a solo homer and throwing 42 of his 53 pitches for strikes over 3⅓ innings (6 H, 0 BBs, 2 Ks), Joe Musgrove was back in the Padres’ clubhouse, feeling good and looking to map out his next step.
- He’s coming off the worst start of his career (3 ⅓ IP, 8 ER) in his Padres debut in Arizona on Aug. 5.
- Injuries to Jake Cronenworth, Ramón Laureano and Samad Taylor, to name a handful, did not help the rookie manager settle on an order, nor did the tendency for hot hitters to run cold not long after they were moved up.
- Around that previous sink-hole in the lineup, Tatis has settled in as the Padres’ leadoff hitter, Ty France has laid claim to the cleanup spot and Merrill’s 1.017 OPS in 23 games since the All-Star break ranks fourth in the majors.
