Yosemite's meadows can be restored, but it will take time and effort

The Ackerson Meadow Restoration Project, one of the largest publicly owned mid-elevation meadows in the Sierra Nevada, is making strides in its efforts to preserve and restore the wetland habitat.

For 2025, Yosemite staff plans to plant 297,000 additional container plants on the newly restored channel surface.

The project aims to support the state-endangered great grey owl and little willow flycatcher, along with other at-risk wildlife.

The restoration efforts are part of a broader initiative to maintain biodiversity and ecological health within Yosemite National Park.
