Studiocanal is adapting Kate Kirby's best-selling novel series, 'The Extremely Embarrassing Life of Lottie Brooks,' for television. The project, described as a 'pre-teen Bridget Jones,' follows the chaotic adventures of 11-year-old Lottie Brooks as she navigates the challenges of growing up.

The books, published by Puffin, an imprint of Penguin Random House Children’s UK, have sold over 3 million copies across 31 international territories and 30 languages. Deadpan Pictures, in collaboration with Studiocanal, is overseeing the adaptation.

Josie Long and Holly Phillips are set to write and produce the series, aiming to blend humor, relatable embarrassment, and touching moments into each episode.

Ailish McElmeel of Deadpan Pictures expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, 'Delighted that the mega-talented Josie Long and Holly Phillips are collaborating with us to bring Katie’s fantastically funny book series to screen.'

The deal was negotiated by Hannah Ladds, with STUDIOCANAL STORIES securing the rights to the book series. STUDIOCANAL KIDS & FAMILY will handle worldwide merchandising and licensing.

Studiocanal’s track record includes successful literary adaptations such as the Paddington franchise and TV series like 'War of the Worlds' and the upcoming 'How to Stop Time,' starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
