Jade Thirlwall Teams with Hans Zimmer for 'Blue Planet III' Theme
Confirmed
In Short: Singer Jade Thirlwall has teamed up with renowned composer Hans Zimmer to create the new song 'Into the Deep (Seas Cry)' for the highly anticipated BBC nature documentary series 'Blue Planet III'.

Thirlwall expressed her excitement about the collaboration, telling Rolling Stone UK, 'When I was sent the whole orchestral piece, I just knew it was a match made in heaven really.'
The song, written by Thirlwall, Zimmer, and Thom Lukas of Bleeding Fingers Music, aims to celebrate the vastness and beauty of the oceans while also addressing the pressing issues of climate change and ocean health.
Thirlwall explained, 'I wanted to make sure that the song did sound incredibly celebratory and portray just how vast and phenomenal the sea is, whilst also bringing in a bit of reality of what’s going on with climate change or with the ways in which the seas are suffering.'
The collaboration process involved working remotely, with Thirlwall and her team receiving clips of 'Blue Planet III' to use as inspiration while writing the song.
Thirlwall also highlighted the importance of David Attenborough's involvement in the project, stating, 'To get to work with Hans Zimmer is obviously such an honour, and has always been a dream of mine, and then to do that alongside one of my favourite shows ever in Blue Planet and one of my favourite humans ever in David Attenborough.'
Jack Bootle, BBC head of specialist factual commissioning, expressed his enthusiasm for Attenborough's return, saying, 'I’m thrilled that David is taking the helm of Blue Planet once again.'
The new song will be featured as part of the soundtrack for 'Blue Planet III', which is set to premiere in 2026 on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, and BBC America.
Thirlwall's social media accounts shared the news of the song's premiere, with fans praising the vocals as 'insane'.
The collaboration between Thirlwall and Zimmer follows in the footsteps of previous 'Blue Planet' seasons, which featured original songs from Radiohead and Zimmer with the BBC Concert Orchestra.

What's still developing
- I got in with Starsmith who did the S.A.D version of ‘Angel of My Dreams’ because I knew he’d be perfect, and then Pablo Bowman, who I’ve worked with before and who had actually sent me a demo last year of a song called ‘David Attenborough’.
- I basically wrote the song to that and we went back and forth a bit.
- I wanted it to almost be like a musical in a song and and tell the story of how incredible the oceans are, but how we’re running out of time, but it’s not too late to do something about it.
