In Short: Channel 4's streaming platform, known primarily for its comedy offerings, also houses a treasure trove of underrated dramas.

Channel 4's streaming platform, known primarily for its comedy offerings, also houses a treasure trove of underrated dramas.

The i Paper highlights several series that deserve more attention, including Dennis Kelly's genre-bending thriller, which is considered one of the best TV series ever made.

Joanna Scanlan's work in 'The Light in the Hall' (or 'Y Golau' in Welsh) is noted for its subtle and affecting portrayal.

All 4 and 4OD, Channel 4's streaming platform, offer these dramas for free, with the option to upgrade to Channel 4+ for £3.99 to remove ads.

What's still developing

It might be best known for its comedy, but Channel 4's streamer has plenty of drama to get stuck into All 4, 4OD – Channel 4’s streaming platform has had many guises over the years.
But the streamer has a real treasure trove of undiscovered and underrated gems.
Channel 4 is completely free, but if you do want to get rid of the adverts, you can upgrade to Channel 4+ for £3.99 (though I’d advise against it – when else are you going to have time to make a cup of tea?).
So, if you’re looking for your next binge watch – whether you want a gritty crime series or a historical dramatisation of true events – you could do worse than looking through Channel 4’s archives.
