Eagles RB Bigsby Headed to IR, Barkley's Status Uncertain

Confirmed

Sports Desk

In Short: Philadelphia Eagles running back Tank Bigsby is headed to injured reserve after suffering a core muscle injury during Sunday's game against the Rams.

Sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that Bigsby will require core muscle surgery and is expected to be out for six weeks or less.

Bigsby was the primary running back for much of the game after Saquon Barkley exited early in the first quarter with a hamstring injury.

Barkley's status for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London remains to be determined, with coach Nick Sirianni saying his condition is still being evaluated.

Bigsby, who joined the Eagles in a trade with the Jaguars last year, has 28 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown this season.

The Eagles are now facing a depleted running back room, with Bigsby set to miss around six weeks.

The team has three running backs on the practice squad in Dameon Pierce, Carson Steele, and Jaydon Blue.

Barkley's injury adds another layer of uncertainty, as he has now been forced to exit two of the first four games of the season.

The severity of Barkley's injury will be determined by tests on Monday, and it's unclear if he would be willing to sit and rest even if he feels healthy enough to play.

The Eagles' upcoming five-game stretch before their bye in Week 10 could be challenging without Barkley.
