Actor Vijay Deverakonda has strongly condemned an AI-generated deepfake video featuring Janhvi Kapoor from the song 'Chuttamalle' in the film 'Devara: Part 1'. The video, which has been circulating on social media, uses AI to manipulate Kapoor's appearance and create sexually explicit visuals that were not part of the original song.

In a statement, Deverakonda wrote, 'We have stooped to the levels of absolute lowlife.' He also called for strict legal consequences against those responsible for creating and spreading the video.

Deverakonda's reaction came after Jr NTR, who starred alongside Kapoor in 'Devara: Part 1', spoke out against the disturbing clip and threatened legal action. Jr NTR described the creation and circulation of the video as 'disgusting, sick and shameless' and vowed to pursue every possible legal action against those responsible.

Deverakonda questioned the wider social attitude towards such content, asking when people had become so insensitive to one another and why anyone would find entertainment in degrading another person. He emphasized that this is the digital equivalent of sexual assault and urged the law to treat such acts with utmost seriousness.

Several celebrities, including Chiranjeevi, Khushbu Sundar, and Ram Gopal Varma, have also condemned the video. Khushbu Sundar, taking to X (formerly Twitter), refused to remain silent when another woman was subjected to digital manipulation and humiliation.

Chiranjeevi wrote, 'I am deeply disturbed by the use of AI to create degrading and morphed videos of a woman. Such acts are cruel, shameful and completely unacceptable. I strongly condemn them. This is not an issue concerning just one individual or one film. Today, it has happened to someone else. Tomorrow, it could happen to you, me or anyone we know. We cannot remain silent simply because it has not affected us personally. Every one of us has a responsibility to stand against this abuse.'

The controversy has renewed debate in India over AI-generated deepfakes and the growing use of the technology to create non-consensual sexualized content involving public figures.

Deverakonda's statement on X called for severe legal consequences for those behind the manipulated content, adding, 'Those who create such content and those who deliberately spread or amplify it must be held accountable under the law. This cannot be dismissed as a joke or treated as entertainment.'

Jr NTR, in a separate statement, warned that those responsible for the video should face the 'harshest possible legal consequences.' He also urged state governments and the Government of India to act strongly and bring in strict regulations against the misuse of AI.
