Quinn Hopes Daniels Will Return for Week 5
Confirmed
In Short: Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn expressed optimism that quarterback Jayden Daniels will be back for the Week 5 game against the Giants.

Washington Commanders coach Dan Quinn expressed optimism that quarterback Jayden Daniels will be back for the Week 5 game against the Giants. "That's the hope for us for sure, [Jayden] coming back," Quinn said.
Daniels dislocated his left elbow in Week 2 against the Cowboys and has been out since. Quinn said Daniels would have a full week of practice Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with the goal of him being ready for the game.
"He'll have a full week of practice Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. That's the goal that he could get into that space. Once we see where Marcus [Mariota] is... we'll have a better understanding. That's the goal for Jayden to throw a full week," Quinn explained.
Mariota also suffered an injury in the Commanders' 30-13 loss to the Colts in London. Quinn said Mariota would undergo further testing Monday.
"For us, having run game is going to be a big deal," Quinn said, noting that the Commanders' running backs had just 49 yards on 18 carries Sunday.
"It's a significant change [offensively] because you don't do quite the same [things]," Quinn said, adding that the team's offensive strategy had to change with the quarterback injuries.
"Teams see a quarterback come in, they try to heat them up," left tackle Brandon Coleman said, referring to the challenges faced by the rookie quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis, who had to step in after Daniels and Mariota.
"Losing your QB is always tough," Coleman said, expressing the difficulty of the situation.
"It sucks... [But Kaliakmanis] was balling out. He got comfortable. It's up to us to make sure he stays comfortable," Coleman added.
"When a chance like this comes [and you prepare], then you're ready," Kaliakmanis said, reflecting on his unexpected opportunity.
The Commanders are already dealing with multiple injuries, including left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who tore his triceps in training camp, and right guard Sam Cosmi, who is recovering from a concussion.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is expected to return to the field against the Washington Commanders in Week 3, after missing the previous game due to a glute injury.
