Noel Gallagher's MTV Unplugged Guitar Sells for $300,000
Confirmed
In Short: An acoustic guitar played by Noel Gallagher during Oasis's 1996 MTV Unplugged performance sold for $299,376 at auction.

The acoustic guitar Noel Gallagher played and signed during Oasis's 1996 MTV Unplugged performance has sold at auction for $299,376, setting a world record for an Oasis acoustic guitar.
Propstore, the auction house based in Hertfordshire, announced the result from the first day of its Music Live Auction, held in London on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The Takamine FP460SC guitar, which was part of the first day of Propstore’s Spring Music Memorabilia Live Auction, was not the only item from the collection of German producer Reinhold Mack, who worked with Queen in the 1980s.
Mark Hochman, Propstore’s music specialist, said, “Setting a world record with Noel Gallagher’s MTV Unplugged guitar is a fantastic result for Propstore and a testament to the lasting connection fans have with Oasis.”
Though the guitar achieved a high price, it was not the biggest seller on the first day of the auction. The total for the collection has already reached $980,415, with 43 lots sold and 41 lots remaining.
The auction included more than 800 lots with a combined estimate of around $3 million, as previewed last month.
The guitar was one of the highlights of the auction, matching the previous record for an Oasis guitar at £226,800 ($299,376).
The sale of the guitar comes amid legal action by the band to block the sale of live recordings from the 1990s, which were originally set to be auctioned this weekend.
What this adds
The guitar's sale price includes buyer's premium, bringing the total to $299,376.
The auction house Propstore had previously previewed the collection, which included other notable items like Noel Gallagher’s stage-played Nash Telemaster from his High Flying Birds’ 2016 summer tour.
