Netflix has renewed its freshman series 'A Different World' for a second season, the company announced Friday, just eight days after the show's debut on September 24.

According to Netflix's internal metrics, 'A Different World' debuted at No. 4 in the world and collected 4.2 million views and 23 million hours of watch time in its first four days of release.

Pride, who grew up with the original series, said she wanted to 'capture and imbue the spirit' of the beloved show in the Netflix revival.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that the show's success has brought joy, romance, relevance, authenticity, and heart to audiences around the world.

The second season will follow Deborah and her Hillman College classmates into their sophomore years.

Jada Pinkett Smith, Glynn Turman, Joe Morton, Jenifer Lewis, Karen Malina White, Ajai Sanders, and Charnele Brown had guest appearances in season one, reprising their roles from the NBC show.

Pride executive produces 'A Different World' with Debbie Allen, Tom Werner, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Mandy Summers.
