Google Meet and Microsoft Teams Now Interoperable
Confirmed
In Short: Google announced that its video conferencing service, Google Meet, is now interoperable with Microsoft Teams. This feature, which was previewed last month, is now generally available.

With this update, meeting rooms equipped with Android-based Google Meet hardware can join Microsoft Teams calls, and vice versa. This means that users no longer have to switch rooms or use a laptop if they receive a meeting invite on a different platform.
The interoperability feature is available to Google Workspace customers using Google Meet hardware that runs on Android or AOSP (Android Open Source Project). However, it is important to note that this feature applies to dedicated meeting-room hardware and not to the Google Meet or Microsoft Teams apps on personal devices.
In offices where different teams, clients, and companies frequently switch between Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, this new feature could significantly reduce the frustration of joining calls.
Claude Opus 5.5, an AI model, is now available across Anthropic, AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure, with 40% lower typical running costs than its predecessor.
Microsoft and Qualcomm have dropped the 'Copilot+' label from their newer Surface computers, even though these devices meet the requirements for the label.
An open-world racing game for PlayStation 5 is now available, with plans for release on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via various stores.
The Baltic Powers DLC for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition is now available, introducing new Native Allies and updates.
In 2009, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer famously snatched an iPhone from an employee during a meeting, symbolizing the company's struggle against Apple at the time.
While Microsoft continued its path, Apple, under Steve Jobs, took a different direction and eventually overtook Microsoft in market capitalization.
What this adds
The interoperability feature is specifically designed for meeting-room hardware and does not affect personal devices running Google Meet or Microsoft Teams apps.
The decision to drop the 'Copilot+' label from newer Surface computers reflects a shift in how Microsoft markets its devices.
The historical context of Steve Ballmer's actions in 2009 underscores the competitive landscape between Microsoft and Apple at the time.

What's still developing
- If you’ve ever walked into a meeting room only to realize the call is on Microsoft Teams while the room is set up for Google Meet, you’ll know how unnecessarily complicated something as simple as joining a video call can become.
- Google started addressing that problem last month when it previewed a new interoperability feature that would let Meet and Teams hardware work together.
- Now, the company says the feature is generally available, meaning supported meeting-room hardware can finally start taking advantage of it.
- So, if your company primarily uses Meet but a client sends you a Teams invite, you wouldn’t have to reach for a laptop or switch rooms just because everyone happens to be using a different video conferencing service.
- So, this obviously won’t change much if you take all your meetings on your phone or laptop.
- Apple says store teams can help with trade-ins, carrier offers, financing where available and Personal Setup.
- On the flip side, it also lags behind some of its fierce competitors, like Slack and Microsoft Teams, in terms of the number of features.
- This has been available for a long time on many of its competitor platforms, and it's finally being rolled out to Google Chat.
- Microsoft and Qualcomm have acknowledged that they and their PC partners are dropping the label from their systems.
- Microsoft has allowed all Windows 11 user to dump AP-powered Copilot virtual assistant The specifications Microsoft outlined are much more commonplace.
- If you've questioned why Microsoft has insisted on branding computers as Copilot+ PCs, you're not alone.
- The Microsoft and Qualcomm executives didn't directly explain why you see fewer computers labeled as Copilot+ PCs.
