Sources close to the situation told Variety that De Luca and Abdy will not be part of the new leadership structure under David Ellison, the CEO of Paramount Skydance.

The departure of De Luca and Abdy comes nearly a year after Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav announced the renewal of their contracts, citing the success of films such as 'Sinners,' 'A Minecraft Movie,' and 'Weapons.

Despite the success of these films, the new leadership at Paramount Skydance is keeping its plans for the post-merger structure under wraps.

Variety also reported that Casey Bloys, currently overseeing HBO Max, has yet to be confirmed for a top streaming role in the new combined entity, despite Cindy Holland's recent exit from Paramount+'s streaming division.

What this adds

The news of De Luca and Abdy's departure adds to the uncertainty surrounding the leadership structure post-merger, as Paramount Skydance maintains a tight lid on details.

Background

Actor Mark Ruffalo slammed the approval of the $111 billion Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger, calling it a 'bad deal for this country' that will stifle creativity and weaken free speech.

Warner Bros. is a brand name that has been used by several multinational mass media and entertainment companies and corporations, mostly based in the United States, with attributions to Warner Bros. Pictures, a major American film studio founded on April 4, 1923, and the original namesake.
