- Horror fans were already buzzing over the first collaboration between Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele, who announced late last year they’d be teaming up to produce a film called Portrait of God.
- And there’s a new studio attached too: Lionsgate, which said in a press release that Portrait of God has officially been greenlit for production.
- Sam Raimi will co-produce 'Tortures of the Damned,' which is said to have a bigger budget than Leone's Art the Clown franchise.
- Raimi also has a Lionsgate film in the works, a modern take on Magic, the William Goldman novel that also inspired the very creepy 1978 movie starring Anthony Hopkins.

The very brief description is “A religious girl must come to terms with her faith when she analyzes a provocative painting of God.” The feature will certainly expand quite a bit on its source material, but we do love the “ haunted artwork ” horror subgenre, and Portrait of God definitely fits the bill.
