At OpenAI’s DevDay, the company announced the launch of ChatGPT Space, a new shared workspace designed to replace the Library feature for eligible users.

Space is rolling out to Pro, Business, and Enterprise users on the web and desktop, offering a more streamlined experience for collaboration.

Previously, users would brainstorm in ChatGPT, paste their ideas into a document, and then return to the chatbot for further refinement.

OpenAI now seeks to eliminate this back-and-forth with Space, allowing users to keep working on the same material with both AI and human collaborators.

In Space, users can convert existing ChatGPT conversations into collaborative workspaces, edit content themselves, request AI-generated rewrites, or invite team members to contribute in real time.

Each collaborator works with their own instance of ChatGPT, and comments can be used to delegate tasks to the AI or other team members.

Users had previously complained about the clunky process of switching between different ChatGPT environments, which often overlapped in functionality.

What this adds

This new integration aims to address user complaints about the inefficiency of switching between different ChatGPT environments.

Background

Google Docs is an online word processor and part of the free, web-based Google Docs Editors suite offered by Google. Google Docs is accessible via a web browser as a web-based application and is also available as a mobile app on Android and iOS and as a desktop application on Google's ChromeOS.
