Formula 1 drivers kicked off the Azerbaijan Grand Prix practice sessions at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday, with George Russell topping the first session.
In the second session, Russell maintained his lead, recording a time of 1:43.347 despite needing to swerve around Gabriel Bortoleto’s slow Audi on the final straight.
Liam Lawson of Alpine encountered Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari in a scenario through the kinks at the start of the section, leading to an investigation by the stewards after the session.
The next Formula 1 free practice session as part of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will begin today at 16:00 and run until 17:00.
The first practice session began at 12:30 p.m. and will continue until 1:30 p.m., with all 11 teams participating.
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were in the top five of both sessions, but Hamilton feels Ferrari are missing performance on the tyres and on the straights.
The second session was also interrupted by an incident, with Russell and Verstappen trading fastest times in the early part of the session.
The third free practice session will take place tomorrow at 12:30.
President Volodymyr Zelensky explained that negotiations will proceed in stages: a dedicated bilateral session between Ukrainian leadership and the US delegation, followed by a subsequent session with the European security advisers.
According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian negotiating team will first hold a dedicated bilateral discussion with Trump’s envoys before convening a second session with the European advisers.
The next scheduled House legislative session begins Nov. 9, giving lawmakers one last opportunity to act on several major pieces of legislation before the House leaves Washington through Election Day.
