Jesse Plemons Praises Alejandro Inarritu's Foresight in 'Digger
Developing
In Short: Actor Jesse Plemons says it's mindboggling that Alejandro Inarritu conceived the film's timely satire nine years ago.

In Alejandro Inarritu's 'Digger,' a satire set to be released now, an iceberg separated from its mainland due to oil drilling by a reckless tycoon named Digger Rockwell (Tom Cruise) heads towards Europe, posing a catastrophic threat.
Actor Jesse Plemons, who plays the mysterious observer Kenny, spoke to SCREEN about the film's relevance.
Plemons noted that the script's conception in 2015, shortly after Inarritu's 'The Revenant,' is remarkable.
He highlighted that while 'The Revenant' featured a fur trapper mauled by a bear, 'Digger' critiques unrelenting capitalism as the apex predator.
What's still developing
- In an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Plemons admits that cinema, much like the rest of arts, is also getting increasingly polarizing, but that’s only because of the ecosystem that it operates within the boundaries of.
- When he first read the script, he couldn’t believe that director Alejandro Inarritu conceived it nine years ago in 2015, right after the release of his Academy Award-winning Western action epic The Revenant.
- “The fact that it’s coming out right now, it’s mindboggling to me that he had the foresight to see it coming this way,” adds Plemons.
