IDF Kills Hamas North Gaza Brigade Commander in Airstrike
Developing
In Short: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed the commander of Hamas’s Northern Gaza Brigade in an airstrike in Gaza City.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet security agency announced on Tuesday that Izz al-Din al-Bik, the commander of Hamas’s Northern Gaza Brigade, was killed in an airstrike in Gaza City’s al-Nasr neighborhood.
According to the IDF, al-Bik was responsible for managing the brigade’s operatives and directing them to carry out attacks on Israeli troops and civilians.
The IDF stated that al-Bik was killed in a precise aerial strike because he posed an immediate threat to IDF troops and Israeli civilians.
This marks the third top Hamas commander killed by Israel in recent weeks, following the deaths of the commanders of the Rafah and Khan Younis Brigades.
The Gaza war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led terrorists invaded southern Israel, resulting in the deaths of over 73,400 people in Gaza, including more than 1,330 since the October 2025 ceasefire, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
What's still developing
- A strike in Gaza City on Sunday killed a Hamas operative who the military said was involved in smuggling millions of shekels to the terror group’s military wing.
- The military said Abu Hasira was also involved in commercial activities in Gaza, managing a company named “Gardena Professional” that facilitated his money-transfer activities.
- Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.
- The commander was also involved in restoring the brigade’s capabilities, “which suffered a fatal blow throughout the war,” the joint statement read.
- “We will continue to hunt down and pursue all of the organization’s terrorists, from its commanders to its last operative, wherever they hide, until there is no Hamas in Gaza,” their separate statement read.
