Divya Mittal, UP officer who resigned from IAS, announces entry into politics
Confirmed
In Short: Former IAS officer Divya Mittal announced on Tuesday that she is entering politics in Uttar Pradesh, vowing to focus on accountability and justice.

In a video message on X, Mittal said she resigned from the IAS and took time to gather the courage to make her announcement.
Mittal, a 2013-batch Uttar Pradesh-cadre officer, called Uttar Pradesh her “karmabhoomi” and the starting point of her political journey.
Calling herself the “voice of the people,” Mittal said her politics would focus on accountability, justice, and the problems of ordinary citizens.
Mittal cited her administrative experiences as the driving force behind her decision. She recalled an inspection in Lahuria Dah area of Mirzapur, where she served as district magistrate, and said she had expected a woman there to ask for a pension or a house.
Mittal appealed to people from different sections of society, including teachers, farmers, students, doctors, labourers, and lawyers, to participate in her initiative.
Mittal shared a WhatsApp number for those wishing to connect and support her political initiative.
Mittal's entry into politics is notable because she is framing her move around experiences from inside the bureaucracy rather than an immediate association with an established political party.
