Kyle MacLachlan Reflects on Dark Roles in Lynch Films

In Short: At the Venice Film Festival, actor Kyle MacLachlan reflected on his roles in David Lynch's films, particularly the dark and surreal worlds he inhabited.

MacLachlan, who was 23 when he auditioned for his first film, Lynch's adaptation of Dune, noted the beginning of a decades-long friendship and creative partnership with the director.
In Blue Velvet, MacLachlan says he was tasked with maintaining an innocence that was 'singed' by the film's dark themes.
He also shared that the memoir he wrote allowed him to reflect on the difficult times he and Lynch went through as friends and collaborators.
MacLachlan acknowledged the potential for Lynch's reaction to some of the stories in his memoir, highlighting the personal and creative journey that shaped their relationship.
