Iran's army voices readiness for potential renewed US attack
Confirmed
In Short: The warning came after reports of a potential US attack on Iran, which has raised tensions in the Middle East. Iran's readiness for a potential conflict was underscored by a massive rally in Tehran, where hundreds of thousands of Iranians pledged their readiness to take up arms.

Iran's military central command issued a stern warning on Sunday, stating that any new attack by the United States and its allies would trigger sustained retaliation against US bases and interests, with regional allies being considered parties to the conflict.
Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine said his country's halting of attacks on Russian territory would depend on the US securing a commitment from Russia to stop hitting Ukrainian infrastructure.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine would only halt its attacks if Russia genuinely commits to ending the war and ceasing attacks on critical infrastructure, including food, energy, and other basic facilities.
The IDF is also preparing for multi-front scenarios while maintaining defensive readiness, following a series of plan approvals and readiness measures that began in August.
The US State Department issued a security alert on Saturday, advising Americans to exercise vigilance and be prepared for potential flight cancellations and travel disruptions in the Middle East.
The IDF is now operating in a mode of “offensive defense,” deployed beyond the familiar border lines and deep inside enemy territory in all sectors, as it prepares for a range of possibilities, including Iranian rocket fire and explosive drone attacks.
The rise in oil prices is attributed to concerns over potential disruptions to oil supply from the Middle East, following attacks on a key Saudi onshore oil pipeline by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
The US Army has used up much of its stockpile of highly accurate long-range missiles during the war with Iran, raising concerns about readiness for future conflicts.
Ukraine attacked an industrial facility in Russia with drones overnight, damaging the site and several residential buildings in the southeastern Samara region, according to Russian media reports.
What this adds
The potential economic consequences of a renewed conflict, including the estimated $38 billion cost, are being discussed.
