Federal illegal voting arrest becomes latest flashpoint in Sherrill's battles with Trump administration

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced the arrest of Sanata Coulibaly, a Senegalese national, for allegedly voting in three general elections in New Jersey and applying for U.S. citizenship despite being an illegal voter.
Coulibaly was arrested when DHS and FBI agents executed a criminal warrant in Hudson County, New Jersey.
The arrest comes after Sherrill revealed in July that a software error in New Jersey's motor vehicle system had improperly registered roughly 6,600 people who identified themselves as noncitizens.
The case highlights the ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and Sherrill over immigration enforcement and election integrity.
The Trump administration has been challenging Sherrill over state policies affecting federal law enforcement and pressing New Jersey for access to its voter rolls.
