At least two people were killed and more than 30 were injured in the attack, which lasted for hours from morning into early afternoon, officials said. The strikes hit a nine-storey non-residential building, a business centre, and warehouses, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Zelenskiy said Russia had deployed many drones against the city, with a large number of them jet-powered. The drones set off fires and damaged buildings in Kyiv and elsewhere in Ukraine overnight, authorities said.
In his meeting with Trump on Tuesday, Zelenskiy discussed a potential bilateral ceasefire on energy-related targets and asked for increased supplies of US Patriot air defence missiles to defend against an expected Russian winter campaign against Ukraine's electricity infrastructure.

Katarina Mathernova, the EU ambassador to Ukraine, posted on social media that buildings nearby were burning from the drone strikes. The strikes caused fires and damage in several districts of Kyiv, with residential and commercial areas as well as transport infrastructure affected.

Zelenskiy said it was important to keep up sanctions pressure on Moscow, including on Russian oligarchs. Urgent issues for Kyiv are halting devastating Russian strikes on Ukraine’s power grid and ensuring Ukrainian grain can be shipped to world markets through the Black Sea despite the war.
The Polish military said a Russian military helicopter briefly violated Poland’s airspace Wednesday on the country’s border with Russia’s Kaliningrad exclave. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there are “no concrete plans” for more U.S.-brokered talks between Russian and Ukrainian delegations.
