A widowed Noida mother is seeking the Delhi High Court's assistance to move her 14-year-old adopted son into government or private care, without legally terminating the adoption.
Eight years ago, she and her late husband adopted the boy from an orphanage in Assam when he was six years old.
The woman, now a single mother since her husband's death in 2021, says she cannot manage the boy's care due to her own health issues and the absence of male support in the household.
She claims that the situation has become untenable with her living in Aligarh with her ailing mother.
The couple initially thought the boy's behavioral issues might stem from the transition from Assam to Noida, but the problems persisted after her move to Aligarh.

- With no male member around in the house and two aged women with their own set of ailments requiring medical management, the petitioner has told the court that she is “now helpless to handle” her adoptive son’s custody.
