Divers Spend Six Hours Cleaning River Nene

Organisers at Northampton Scuba School expressed their commitment to regular clean-ups, stating that the amount of waste collected underscores the substantial work required to keep the river clean.
The event was organized in collaboration with Northampton Active and Northampton Rowing Club, with the aim of removing as much debris as possible from the river.
Northampton Canoe and Kayak Club supported the initiative by providing a ladder to ensure divers could safely enter and exit the water.
In addition to the diving efforts, non-divers were invited to join the litter-picking team along the riverbank, further contributing to the clean-up.
The clean-up comes amid concerns over environmental issues, including fears of an 'oil waterfall' near the river, and questions about the efficiency of waste management processes.
