Apple has reinstated the App Switcher in the second beta release of watchOS 27.2, addressing user concerns about its absence in the previous version.
The new beta introduces a different method to access the App Switcher: users must now press and hold the bottom of the screen while in an app.
Previously, the App Switcher allowed users to quickly switch to the last-used app or view and open other recently used apps.
The update is part of Apple's beta testing process, allowing users to provide feedback before the final release.
What's still developing
- In watchOS 27, the Digital Crown double-press gesture is now reserved for Apple's upcoming new Live Rewind AI feature, so it no longer brings up the App Switcher screen.
- On watchOS 26 and earlier, you could access the App Switcher by double-clicking the Digital Crown, then turning the Digital Crown to navigate through your recently used apps.
