Culture Minister Tetiana Berezhna highlighted the critical role of small publishers in discovering new authors and tackling complex subjects, noting that the loss of a single print run can halt operations for months.
Deputy Culture Minister Bohdana Laiuk emphasized the vulnerability of small publishers and the need to channel international attention into supporting them through a transparent grant program. Applications for the grants are expected to open in November.

Russian forces launched 172 drone attacks overnight, with 148 intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses. Additionally, 1,700 air bombs and 19 missiles were launched, most of which were jet-powered and capable of reaching 600 kilometers per hour.
The organizers are currently mobilizing more partners, philanthropists, and businesses to join the initiative. Alongside the new grant initiative, the Culture Ministry is exploring other ways to support Ukraine's book industry.
