Carrick highlighted the performance of Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw, noting that they were particularly dangerous down the right side of the field.
Shaw, who has been a consistent presence in United's Premier League starting lineup since the start of last season, celebrated with Benjamin Sesko after scoring United's second goal.
Questions have arisen about United's recruitment strategy, especially given their lack of a striker to support Sesko. Carrick also pointed out that Joshua Zirkzee, who could have played for Everton on loan, remained on the bench due to United's inability to secure a replacement.
