Saoirse Ronan stars in the zany new film 'Bad Apples,' which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this week.
In an interview with IndieWire, Ronan described the film's script as 'somewhat zany and off in its style and trajectory,' noting that she had never read anything quite like it.
Ronan expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to play a character that allowed her to explore 'insane situations' while still maintaining a 'hilariously funny' tone.
Director Jonatan Etzler, making his English-language debut, had already sensed Ronan's interest in the project even before she officially signed on.
Producer Pimlott recalled that Ronan's agent was immediately enthusiastic about the script, sending a message that read, 'Wow, absolutely loved it, can't wait to send it to Saoirse,' after just reading it.
Ronan's character, Maria, is a beleaguered primary school teacher who faces relentless bad behavior from young Danny, played by Eddie Waller in his debut role.
When IndieWire's Jonatan Etzler mentioned that Ronan's comedic performance was so impressive that it prompted him to revisit clips from her previous work, Etzler smiled, indicating the film's success in showcasing Ronan's comedic talents.
