Zelenskyy emphasized that the attacks aim to put financial pressure on Russia's economy, targeting billions of dollars that sustain the war machine.

The attacks also aimed to make the Russian public feel the war's consequences and pressure President Vladimir Putin into negotiating a peace settlement.

Russia was holding parliamentary elections in the annexed Ukrainian regions and Crimea, its first wartime parliamentary election.

Russia's Ministry of Defense reported shooting down 1,100 Ukrainian drones across the country, including over Crimea and the Black Sea.

Kyiv is pushing for a peace settlement, with U.S. peace envoys meeting with both Putin and Zelenskyy to discuss a potential path toward ending the war.

Ukrainian defense manufacturer Fire Point claimed involvement in the Novy Urengoy attack, stating that a drone covered more than 3,300 kilometers and successfully hit the target.
