Justice Department Charges 16 in Nationwide Election Crime Crackdown

Analiea Milliscent Eccles, 44, a Venezuelan national and DACA recipient, is charged with voting nine times between 2008 and 2024.
In Idaho, Mexican national Avila Gomez faces several charges for allegedly falsely claiming US citizenship, voting in the May 2022 and November 2024 elections, and fraudulently obtaining identification documents.
Nigerian national Gladys Adaeze Okafor, 56, a lawful permanent resident, is charged with voting illegally in the 2022 and 2024 elections.
The Justice Department noted that the charges are accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The crackdown is part of a broader Trump administration enforcement effort targeting alleged illegal voting and election-related crimes.
The Justice Department warned on social media that some of those charged allegedly voted in the 2022 and 2024 elections and urged others against attempting to illegally participate in US elections.
