Gianluigi Donnarumma struggled with high balls, while Matheus Nunes was caught napping, allowing Sunderland's Brian Brobbey to score his first goals of the season and complete a hat-trick.

Enzo Fernandez scored his first City goal with a delightful free-kick, and Ruben Dias had an off day, failing to lead the defense effectively.

Sunderland, promoted back to the top flight, showed resilience, but City's Antoine Semenyo scored twice to help secure the win.

Erling Haaland, who had not scored against Sunderland in previous matches, added a late goal to seal the victory.

The match saw both teams score freely, with City drawing first blood through Fernandez in the 9th minute, only to be quickly equalized by Brobbey.

City regained the lead through Rayan Cherki, but Brobbey's second goal made it 2-2 before halftime.

Semenyo's first goal put City ahead 3-2, and his second in the 57th minute extended their lead.

Haaland's goal in the final minutes ensured City's victory, despite Sunderland's spirited performance.

The result leaves City with 15 points from five matches, three points clear at the top of the table, while Sunderland sits in 14th place.
