Poland has joined a European coalition dedicated to developing joint counter-ballistic missile capabilities, alongside Ukraine and nine other European states, President Volodymyr Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced on Friday.
Tusk noted that Poland's omission from the coalition's initial launch in Paris in July was a misunderstanding, and that Polish defense contractors are reviewing options to contribute industrially.
Zelensky, who created the coalition of nine countries, said Poland will be a member of the European coalition dedicated to countering ballistic missile threats and will partner with Ukraine.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Zelensky in Ukraine, Tusk thanked his host for the announcement and expressed gratitude for Poland's inclusion in the coalition.
The coalition was formed against a backdrop of heightened diplomatic strain between Kyiv and Warsaw, aiming to develop a joint European defense system against ballistic missiles.
