Luxembourg's Findel Airport reopened Saturday morning after suspending operations the previous evening due to unauthorized drone activity, according to EU Today and Kyivindependent.

The airport said the suspension was a precaution to protect passengers, airline crews, airport staff, and aircraft, as quoted in EU Today.

The reopening allowed flights to resume, but the airport warned that some services could still face delays while the timetable recovered.

Luxembourg’s government said it would reconvene its interministerial drone task force, which had already met on Thursday following reports of possible drones near Medernach.

The disruption diverted 19 aircraft carrying more than 1,800 passengers to airports in neighboring countries, according to Kyivindependent.

Luxair, the national carrier based at the airport, confirmed that 17 of its flights were affected.

An incoming flight from London was diverted to Liege, Belgium, with the pilot announcing to passengers that drones were still flying over the airport, a passenger told the Luxembourg Times.

The initial trigger was visual sightings of unidentified and unauthorized drones within the airspace over Findel, after which the airspace was closed and a multi-agency response initiated.

Operations had resumed by Saturday morning, although it warned that delays and changes to schedules could continue while airlines and airport partners restored normal services.
