Despite his long absence, Donald, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, has always been known for his athleticism and skill.
However, there has been some question about how much he will be able to contribute in his first game back.
Rams head coach Sean McVay said on Tuesday that Donald will not travel to Australia for the team's season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
McVay said the team is taking a day-by-day approach with Donald and that he will practice in full on Friday.
On Monday, Donald declined to confirm whether he would play in the Rams' opener, instead opting for a cardio workout.
The Giants should prepare as though Donald will be at his best, according to analysts.
Meanwhile, it was reported that receivers Puka Nacua and Jordan Whittington did not practice on Friday.
Nacua and Whittington's absence could be a boon for the Giants, as Nacua is one of the best receivers in the NFL and Whittington is a capable returner.
Starting cornerback Deonte is dealing with calf tightness, and Paulson Adebo has been placed on injured reserve.
The Rams will have plenty of defensive firepower despite Donald's absence, but his potential return adds another layer of challenge for the Giants.
