Israeli UN Ambassador Calls for Arrest of NYC Mayor Mamdani
Developing
In Short: Israel's UN ambassador wants New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani arrested over planned protests against PM Netanyahu's visit.

Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, called for the arrest of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Thursday, ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the United States next week.
Erdan told reporters, 'I think he already incited by putting the ridiculous claim that he can or he should arrest the prime minister.' Mamdani had previously said he wanted the New York Police Department to arrest Netanyahu when he enters the city, but later noted his office lacks the authority to do so.
Mamdani's desire to arrest Netanyahu stems from planned protests against the Israeli leader's visit. However, Mamdani revealed he has no plans to attend any protest next week.
Since taking office in January, Mamdani has expressed his displeasure with Israel and its involvement in the war with Iran, leading to accusations of stoking antisemitism.
In a twist, Mamdani later called on former President Donald Trump to execute the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for alleged war crimes against Netanyahu instead of pursuing the matter himself.
