Google Expands Notebooks in Gemini to Workspace and Education Users

Google has expanded its Notebooks in Gemini feature to users with business or education accounts under the Google Workspace program, according to Android Authority. This move allows students, educators, and enterprise users to organize notes and resources from the internet within Gemini.
The expansion simplifies the process for Workspace users who previously accessed the feature via Gemini Notebook, reducing the number of steps required. Additionally, Google is now allowing Workspace users to import books from Google Play Books into their notebooks.
Google says Notebooks in Gemini are now enabled by default for all Workspace accounts, though administrators can control or restrict access. Both Gemini and Gemini Notebook must be enabled at the organization level for the feature to be available.
The new feature enables users to create interactive learning materials, reports, and slide decks directly within Gemini. This integration aims to streamline the process of organizing and accessing information for educational and professional purposes.
However, the feature is currently not available to users in the European Economic Area due to regional restrictions on AI technology.
What's still developing
- This feature, called “Notebooks in Gemini,” was soon expanded to Gemini’s mobile apps, and has since been available to all free and paid users with a Gmail account.
- A few months ago, Google expanded NotebookLM’s footprint (before the app was renamed to Gemini Notebook) in the main Gemini interface on the web by adding a direct shortcut.
- The option was rolled out for regular Google users last month.
