Dupilumab May Help Severe CRSwNP Patients with Ear Inflammation

In Short: A study suggests dupilumab could improve ear-related quality of life and function in patients with severe CRSwNP and eosinophilic otitis media.

Researchers found that among adults with severe chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and eosinophilic otitis media (EOM), dupilumab treatment was associated with progressive improvement in otitis-related quality of life and middle-ear function over 12 months.

The study's authors noted that these findings support the idea that EOM and CRSwNP may be connected manifestations of a multi-compartment type 2 inflammatory disorder.

However, the study was observational and lacked a comparison group, meaning the improvements could not be definitively attributed to dupilumab alone.

Furthermore, the study's results cannot be generalized to patients with isolated EOM without CRSwNP, as all participants received dupilumab for severe CRSwNP.
