Doctors have traditionally used combination vaccines and multiple injections per visit to minimize distress and optimize protection against diseases. Some research supports this approach, indicating it reduces the overall number of stressful visits for children.
Vaccine injections are described as the most common source of iatrogenic pain in childhood. Infants cannot express their preference, but clinicians and researchers continue to explore ways to make the vaccination process less painful and stressful.
