Sir Sobha Singh Trust Petitions Court Over BMS Rent Arrears

The Sir Sobha Singh Public Charitable Trust is set to appear before the Tis Hazari Court on Friday to argue against the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) over unpaid rent for four of its properties. The petition, filed in 2021, claims the BMS has been in continuous default for 15 years.
According to the Trust's petition, the tenancy agreement was established around 1951 for Hansraj, an industrialist involved with both the BMS and Jan Sangh, to use the premises as a personal office.
Court records indicate that the BMS is the sole respondent actively contesting the case, with other respondents not appearing in court.
The rented premises consist of four rooms across two floors of the Sir Sobha Singh Building near the New Delhi Railway Station, which was once the headquarters of the Bharatiya Jan Sangh, the BJP's predecessor.
The Trust has cited unauthorized subletting and structural damage as additional grounds for eviction, beyond the non-payment of rent.
