The New York Knicks officially announced the signing of former No. 2 NBA Draft pick James Wiseman to an Exhibit 9 contract, along with veteran swingman Bruce Brown and shooting guard Ochai Agbaji, among others.
In addition to Wiseman, the Knicks also signed Drew Eubanks and John Konchar to training camp contracts, bringing the total to five new players competing for two open roster spots.
ESPN's Bobby Marks reported that while the Knicks have two open roster spots, they will only be able to keep one player if they do not make a trade.
Brown, a one-time NBA champion with the Denver Nuggets in 2023, could have the leg up on the competition due to his championship experience and his ability to play all 82 games last season.
The Knicks are currently $17.9 million over the tax threshold for the 2026-27 season, but they sit approximately $3.2 million below the second apron, providing some flexibility in their roster management.
These moves come as the Knicks prepare to defend their 2026 NBA title, adding depth and experience to their roster ahead of the upcoming season.
