Venezuela's Church and Oil Deal Amid Talks with Opposition

The Adventist Church in Venezuela has been actively involved in disaster relief efforts, particularly after the earthquake that devastated central Venezuela. Elder Navarro, an elder at the Central Seventh-day Adventist Church in Carayaca, shared, 'Seeing a symbol of the church there gave us strength. You would say, "We are not alone. The church is supporting us."
Ongoing talks between the socialist regime and the opposition are making some progress. Dinorah Figuera, who leads the opposition delegation, arrived in Venezuela on Sept. 13 and explained that once this week's discussions conclude, the country could expect an announcement regarding the agreements reached. Cardinal Baltazar Porras and Diego Padrón, along with Bishop Emeritus Ramón Ovidio Pérez Morales, have also spoken out regarding the political and social situation in Venezuela.
Additionally, the Trump administration and the Chavista regime signed a massive energy deal granting the United States effective control over approximately one-third of Venezuelan oil, some 65 billion barrels of proven reserves. The state of freedom of expression in Venezuela will also be one of the items on the agenda during the talks.
Venezuela's former first lady, Cilia Flores, is seeking to be released from jail while she and her husband await trial on U.S. charges. Her lawyers wrote in court papers that she 'deserves the opportunity to await her trial while on home confinement' due to her worsening heart condition.
