The Ladakh administration has been examining the issue of compensation for families affected by violence in the region, particularly those killed or injured during protests in September 2022. The Union Territory administration has sanctioned compensation of Rs 15 lakh for the next of kin of each of the four deceased, and ex-gratia payments for those with major and minor injuries.
Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena stated, 'While no compensation amount can replace a life lost or erase the pain endured, the Ladakh Administration firmly stands beside every affected family in their journey towards healing and overcoming grief.
