The third season of the anime series based on Katarina's Shangri-La Frontier web novel is set to debut on January 10, running for two continuous cours on MBS and TBS networks, and 26 affiliated channels. According to Anime News Network, the season will premiere at 5:00 p.m. and will continue the story of Rakurō Hizutome, a second-year high school student who is passionate about gaming.
Rakurō, described by Kodansha USA Publishing as a second-year high school student interested in "shitty games," is introduced to the new VR game Shangri-La Frontier. Following his usual pattern, he skips the prologue to jump straight into the action, setting the stage for an exciting adventure. The anime's cast returns from the second season to reprise their roles, with Toshiyuki Kubooka serving as chief director for the new season at C2C.
Hiro Ōki, who directed episodes of the second season, will continue in the role of director, while Naoki Kotani, known for his work on Black Clover and Yu-Gi-Oh!, will serve as episode director. The first season of the anime premiered in October 2023, and the second season ran for two consecutive cours in October 2024. With the third season set to debut, fans can look forward to more of Rakurō's gaming adventures and the secrets of Shangri-La Frontier.
