Armani has appointed Dario Vitale as the new creative director for Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani Accessories, marking a new chapter for the brand following the death of founder Giorgio Armani last year.
Vitale, a veteran fashion insider with over 15 years of experience at Miu Miu, joins Armani after a brief tenure at Versace, becoming the first external designer to oversee the house.
In a statement, Armani said Vitale’s appointment marked the 'beginning of a new chapter' for the brand and 'opens a dialogue between innovation and identity.
Emporio Armani is the line for more youthful dressers, and Vitale will also serve as creative director of Giorgio Armani Accessories, beginning both roles immediately.
According to reports, Vitale thanked Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco for welcoming him and expressed confidence in developing the next phase of both Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani Accessories.
