World Desk

In Short: Russia resumed major missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, killing five and wounding 35, as peace talks between U.S. envoys and Ukrainian and Russian leaders faltered.

Russia resumed major missile and drone attacks on Kyiv shortly after U.S. peace envoys left Ukraine, killing five people and wounding 35 on Tuesday.

The attack, described as the deepest Ukrainian drone strike inside Russia since the full-scale invasion in February 2022, targeted a gas station in Kyiv, according to reports.

Despite the renewed push for peace, Russia intensified its attacks, including a fire at an industrial facility in Novy Urengoy, sparking concerns over the safety of Russia’s natural gas production.
