Intruder on the Run After Assaulting Defence Force Member at RAAF Base in Darwin

An individual is currently evading authorities after allegedly breaching security at a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base in Darwin, according to reports.
The incident occurred on a Monday afternoon when the intruder reportedly forced their way onto the military installation in the suburb of Winnellie.
RAAF Darwin security, the Joint Military Police Unit, Northern Territory Police, and Australian Federal Police responded to the breach, implementing base lockdown procedures and protocols.
In a statement, officials confirmed that the facility is one of the main forward mounting bases and shares a runway with the Darwin international airport.
The intruder allegedly assaulted a Defence Force member during the unlawful entry before making a swift exit in a stolen vehicle.
The last known sighting of the suspect occurred approximately 15 kilometers from the base as they drove away in the stolen car.
The US Marines also have aviation support at the base during their 6-month rotations in Darwin, according to the RAAF.
NT police are leading the investigation and responded to the incident around 4:30pm on Monday, with the person last seen traveling in the stolen car about 15km from the base.
