Charles, a member of the Back Block Money Gang, was arrested on January 22, 2025, and was in federal custody for 19 months before being deported. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin emphasized the administration's commitment to deporting illegal aliens, stating, 'Once again: if you’re here illegally, we will find you, arrest you, and remove you from the United States of America.
The deportation comes after Charles was captured on video during his arrest, where he also expressed his refusal to return to Haiti. The White House criticized the previous administrations for allowing Charles to enter the country with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and to terrorize American citizens.
Charles was originally admitted to the U.S. in July 2013 under TPS during the Obama administration and had 17 criminal convictions, including assault and battery on a public employee, resisting arrest, and drug trafficking.

- ICE agents similarly deported Oscar Armando Ramos-Ayala of El Salvador, a member of the San Fernando Valley gang, on September 7.
