Confirmed

In Short: A Delhi court has denied interim bail to Dr Vatsala Aggarwal, the former Directorate General of Health Services, on medical grounds, despite her health issues.

Delhi court denies interim bail to former DGHS chief Dr Vatsala Aggarwal on medical grounds, despite her chronic health conditions, a report by The Indian Express states. The court ordered the Jail Superintendent to make necessary arrangements for her stay, including adaptive servo ventilation and nocturnal oxygen therapy.

The court's decision comes after the Vigilance department conducted raids on the offices of the CPA, the nodal agency responsible for procuring medical supplies, following complaints of irregularities in a Rs 700-crore medical supplies procurement fraud case.

Dr Aggarwal's counsel argued that her discharge summary indicated she was an immunocompromised patient who needed to avoid crowded places, which conflicted with her confinement in a prison barrack. The court, however, denied her relief, stating that necessary arrangements would be made for her stay.

The Indian Express, a leading newspaper in India, has reported that in 17 of 93 acquittals in Delhi riots cases, courts have red-flagged 'fabricated' evidence and criticized the police.
